Berte's Daily Blend

Berte's Daily Blend

Trying to find a supplement that has the highest quality ingredients with the least amount of fillers can often be frustrating. The Berte's Daily Blend was developed not only to meet this need, but to also offer the nutrients not found in commercial or home made diets, be they raw or cooked.

Many supplements use fillers such as brewers yeast, soy, rice bran or corn starch. The Berte's Daily Blend uses defatted whey to take out any bitterness and imported chicken liver powder for flavor. No other fillers or additives are used.

Commercial dog food diets are already balanced in minerals. Raw diets using raw meaty bones already contain calcium and minerals. Home made diets are best served by adding calcium per the weight of food served. So supplements with added minerals are not needed, and can instead often be harmful.

Some vitamins can be missing in both commercial and home made diets. These include vitamin C, vitamin E and B complex, which do not store well, or can be destroyed by high heat. Other vitamins that are helpful include vitamins A and D. All of these are found in the Bertes Daily Blend and are human grade.

The vitamins found in the Berte's Daily Blend  include:

VITAMIN C. This is an essential antioxidant and immune builder. Vitamin C has many functions, including collagen building (present in connective tissue), adrenal gland functioning, stimulates the production of lymphocytes, fights bacteria and viruses, enhances ability of chemotherapy drugs, helps prevent high blood pressure and serum cholesterol, aids in healing of wounds and production of anti-stress hormones.

Vitamin C is water soluble and is flushed from the body quickly. It is important to give this supplement at each meal.

Bioflavonoids, although not exactly a vitamin, are found in the rinds of citrus fruits. When taken with vitamin C, they help with the absorption rate and are also an antioxidant. They help to strengthen capillary walls, help avoid hemorrhages and prevent bruising. They are shown to be helpful with inflammatory conditions and arthritis. Bioflavonoids may also be helpful in treatment and prevention of cataracts.

B VITAMINS help with nerve development, help to maintain kidney function, good muscle tone in the gastrointestinal tract and help with eyes and skin. The B vitamins include B-1 (thiamin), B-2 (riboflavin), B-3 (niacin and niacinamide), B-6 (pyridoxine), B-12 (cobalamin), folic acid, pantothenic acid, biotin, choline, inositol and PABA.

VITAMIN E is also an antioxidant and anti-carcinogen. It helps to protect vitamin C and vitamin A from oxidation. It aids circulation, healing of wounds, aids in arthritis, helps with normal functioning of the nervous system, improves athletic performance and prevents cell damage and may prevent aging.

VITAMIN A is believed to help fight respiratory infections and helps keep our body’s tissues healthy. It is considered to have antioxidant properties and helps maintain good eye function and promotes good reproduction and healthy skin.

VITAMIN D is also considered to be a hormone. It is not only found in food, but also sunlight. It helps with the metabolism of calcium and phosphorus in the body by increasing absorption of these in the intestines. A deficiency of this vitamin in puppies can result in rickets, stunted growth, delayed tooth development and bone deformities.

Selenium. One mineral found in the Daily Blend is selenium. There may be selenium deficiencies due to low amounts of selenium found in the earth where plants are grown and cattle graze. Deficiencies of Selenium can affect the heart and liver. Selenium has been found to help skin conditions and certain neurological problems, such as Muscular Dystrophy. Good selenium in the diet has also been shown to protect dogs against cancer. Using vitamin E with Selenium has shown to increase the effectiveness of selenium.

The Berte’s Daily Blend also includes Kelp and Alfalfa. These are called ‘green foods’ and are rich in trace minerals and vitamins.

Kelp is a brown marine plant that is high in minerals and contains vitamins A, B, E, D and K. It also contains sodium alginate (algin), which helps remove heavy metals from the dogs system. It has gels called carrageenan and agar that aids dogs with IBD and colitis by easing digestion. Kelp is a good source of iodine that helps promote good thyroid function.

Alfalfa is one of the richest mineral foods, and contains small balanced amounts of calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, and all known vitamins. Attributes accredited to Alfalfa include relief from pain of arthritis, healing of intestinal ulcers, gastritis, liver disorders, good for better breath, cancer and help in lactating bitches. It also has some digestive enzymes, which help aid in proper digestion.

The Berte's Daily Blend combines all the above to provide needed nutrients for daily use that is of benefit to the diet, regardless if it is a commercial diet, raw or home cooked.
